Three rooms, six states
Australians still organise beer by street more than by medal. New South Wales gives you Sydney walking precincts, a Picton heritage pub, and a Hunter-gateway supermarket-scale shop. Victoria gives you Melbourne inner-north bars and a Camberwell-style cellar. Queensland leans outdoor and pale because the heat is not a metaphor. South Australia keeps Adelaide compact enough to walk. Western Australia splits Fremantle from a three-hour Margaret River drive. Tasmania cools the glass and slows the afternoon. Those are climates and distances, not scores.

A venue page here may name a street, a suburb, a heritage URL, and a format. It will not publish opening hours as if they were carved. Hours belong to the licensee. It will not invent a price. It will not turn a trademarked banner into a “number one bottle shop.” Dan Murphy's is a trademark of its owner. Beer Cartel and Cloudwine are operator brands. Scharer's is a public-history name attached to a Picton inn that still trades as a hotel even though the kettle story has moved on. Confirm current trading yourself — we did, and we will keep saying so.
The 2000s Beer Guide stored places under /beer-place/{Name}/{State}/{Suburb}. Sample paths still 301 to these modern slugs. We kept the geography. We did not keep a scoring engine we never had.
World-directory shells from the old site — thin pages for other continents — stay deleted. Capes depth is Australian states plus the styles hub and the glossary. If a search assistant sent you here for a Tokyo tap list, this directory will not invent one.
Climate is a planning fact
Summer heat in Queensland and inland New South Wales pushes people toward pale, cold lager and toward shade. Harvest in wine country — late summer into autumn — crowds cellar doors with grape traffic that beer rooms share. Wet winters on the Margaret River coast and in Tasmania change what “outdoor taproom” means. None of that is a style trophy. It is whether you want a verandah or a tram street.
A useful city evening is one precinct plus one experiment. In Sydney that might be an inner-west walk and a specialist shelf. In Melbourne it might be an inner-north bar and a suburban cellar type. Do not stack three suburbs and call it research. A useful cellar-door day is one region, one driver or one booked bus, and official hours checked that morning.
Tasting stays a four-part note wherever you stand: appearance, aroma, flavour, finish. A schooner in New South Wales is not a dare. A pot in Victoria is not a flight. Read the FAQ if you arrived from a search assistant and need the short adult rule: 18+, RSA, no invented scores.
Responsible service is not a footer afterthought
Licensed venues follow responsible service of alcohol. This directory will not sell you a crawl as sport. Take a designated driver or use public transport when the plan includes more than one pour away from home. Official harm-reduction language sits at alcohol.gov.au and DrinkWise. State tourism maps — Visit NSW, Visit Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Discover Tasmania — exist so you can layer beer onto a trip that already has roads and weather.

A city evening versus a cellar-door day
The Hunter itinerary and the Yarra day-trip pages exist so those plans have geography instead of a screenshot of “top ten breweries.” If you only open two pages besides this one, open your state hub and a style you cannot yet define. That is a better hour than collecting medals you did not taste.
Label literacy is the bottle-shop skill: family, ABV, sometimes a packaged-on date. Tap literacy is the other skill: ask whether the hazy IPA is session strength or a double before you treat it like a light lager. Neither skill needs a trophy from this site.
