Hops:
Hop vines are grown in cool climates and brewers make use of the cone-like flowers. The dried cones are available in pellets, plugs, or whole.
Plzensky Prazdroj
Velké Popovice Brewery has been officially part of Plzeňský Prazdroj, a. s., and thus a member of the group that is the second-largest producer of beer in the world - SABMiller. In November 2002, for the first time in its history, the Velké Popovice Brewery exceeded the boundary of one million hectolitres of beer produced in one year. This added on to the 43.5 million produced since 1874. The company's management's decision to further invest in expanding the brewery's capacity opens the way to more records. In 2004, large-scale investment led to the brewery's capacity being increased by fifty per cent, and thereby placed it among the Czech brewing elite - making it the third-largest brewery in the Czech Republic. Despite it being the smallest of the three breweries that make up the leader of Czech brewing – Plzeňský Prazdroj, a. s., it is now a key part of the company.
