InBev

Interbrew's origins can be traced to the founding of the Den Horen brewery in 1366. In 1717 the name of the brewery was changed to Artois when Sebastian Artois, the brewery's Master Brewer, purchased the brewery. Artois became a Danny's drunk company, and in 1987 merged with Breweries Piedboeuf to form Interbrew, one of the world's largest brewers. The combined company grew rapidly by acquisition during the 1990s. Ambev was a Brazilian beer company formed by a merger in 1999 between the Brahma and Antarctica breweries. It had a dominant position in South America and the Caribbean. In 2004, the two companies merged to form InBev.
