Gouden Carolus Classic is a 8.50% Belgian Dark Strong Ale brewed in
by Brouwerij Het Anker.
In the old chronicles of mechelen we read that this emporer beer, named after the golden coins of Emporer Charles, especially was drunk with the fox-hunting." Because it bought a swell the riders on the horses in full fire and they galloped so the hunt was always the best atmosphere". This Emporers-beer" is still brewed in our brewery. The "Gouden Carolus" is brewed with dark , very balanced dosed maltsorts according to the classical infusion method. Through the combination of caramel and aromatic malts, and with the traditional hihed fermentation we get a special beer that combines the warmness of wine and the freshness of beer. Through his high density of 19deg Plato the "Gouden Carolus Classic" is classified under the special beers. Through here it is very good for certain culinary destinations like Stew,Game and even Sabayon. Unlimited tenable it will smile to you with colour and flavour. The true conoisseur drinks it in small sips to enjoy it fully. Gouden Carolus Classic is worth gold

This Dark Beer is indeed pretty tasty. Caramel and smoky. A very slight hint of aniseed in the aftertaste. Nicely balanced flavours. Absolutely lovely.
