Common Beer Terms
Bottle Conditioning:
Bottle conditioning is a secondary (or tertiary) fermentation process which occurs when yeast and sugars are added directly to the bottle during the bottling phase. This assists the beer with a slightly higher alcohol content, but more importantly a longer shelf life without the need for preservatives.
Dunkelweizen
Very similar in style to a Hefeweizen, Dunkel means dark as such expect more malt and roasted flavours in most examples with more subtle yeast characteristics.
The appearance will still be quite cloudy or murky as Dunkels are not filtered and many drinkers often report this style tasting like fruit cake or banana bread.
