This is a (Czech) Bohemian style pilsner craft brewed using European pilsner malt.
It is brewed in the style of the original golden coloured lager first brewed 1842 in Pilsen, Bohemia Czech Republic.
It is mid golden in colour, with the enticing aromas and flavours of Saaz hops and complex malt.
This pilsner finishes with a lingering hop bitterness.

Light golden straw colour with a head that quickly disappears. Has a fruity sweet aroma that lasts till the end of the glass. Definate Bohemian style Pilsner that is pleasant to the palatte. Prefer the Pale Ale to this. |

Poured a light golden straw into a 425mL pilsener glass. Attractive, full head thinned really quickly which was dissapointing. I too may have had a soapy glass and I cursed myself for not washing properly. Instantly I noticed the wonderful hops and sweet fruity aromas. This is a very nice-smelling brew. A fine, sweet pilsener on the pallet, balanced nicely with bitter overtones. Yum. This will be a brew I buy again and again, I think. |

This beer came highly recommend to me so I was very eager to try it. I've been putting it off and off and finally I caved in and grabbed it tonight. The aroma is a little weak at first but as you finish pouring you can detect it more easily. It is a fruity, sweet aroma with a little hint of the hops detectable. It is a golden/amber colour with good carbonation, but unfortunatly the head dissappeared in almost an instant. This was very dissapointing, but it is possible the glass was slighltly dirty (or soapy) and may be my own fault and not the beers. Recently I have rated a number of Pilsners (just the luck of the draw) and to be honest some have not been what I expected. Wicked Elf Pilsner almost nails perfectly what I would call a Bohemiam style Pilsner. It is sweet, hoppy and malty upfront and follows it up with a balanced yet bitter finish (due to the hops) which lingers for a while leaving a bubbly yet bitter Pilsner flavour. It is a shame there was no head, but overall it didn't detract too much from the overall experience. This beer is a solid performer and you should keep an eye out for it next time you are shopping. |
