Graystons Reserve 2007 is a strong, dark wheat beer brewed using Matilda Bay's classic Redback yeast. Unfiltered and unpasteurised the brew still contains active yeast in the bottle which wil help this beer age and develop over time. It has been designed for the fridge and the cellar. The name Grayston's Reserve is inspired by the birth of a Matilda Bay team members first son - Jake Grayston Player.

Really special beers are few and far between. That is a good thing dont get me wrong, because when you find one it makes it all that much better! Lets look at Grayton's Reserve 2007, it comes in a 750ml bottle which speaks business straight up front, has a fancy attractive label and the words Reserve in its title mean it must be good. For me, before even trying it tipped the scales quite positively for the overall experience and is a tribute to the care and pride Matilda Bay have in their beers. The aroma is quite fruity (possibly cloves and/or bananas?) and hoppy with a little hint of the higher alchohol content detected. The appearance is gob smacking, its dark, inviting and has a very creamy head. Then you taste it. The flavour is malty with hints of toffee/chocolate and has a smooth upfront taste followed with a little bitterness and has a similar flavour to some of its German competitors. If you like dark and stronger flavoured Beers you must not miss the opportunity to try this Beer. If you enjoyed Redback, Rooftop and to some extent DogBolter from Matilda Bay you'll love this beer! | |||
