Common Beer Terms

Chill Haze:
A cloudiness, or haze that occurs in beer when it gets cold as a result of the proteins and polyphenols bonding with hydrogen. Once the beer warms up this should disappear. It is possible to add clarifying agents to beer to prevent chill haze from occurring.

A unique Australian made specialty beer. Brewed with a blend of premium pale malted barley and malted wheats with an equal amount of pure light amber honey. The light malt palate with its sominating honey aroma and flavour create a pale light golden coloured beer with a moderate bitternsess.

Stopped by the Stones Corner Hotel and had a 330 ml 'schmiddy' of this. Poured a clear yellow colour with a fluffy white head. It had little aroma, but I could detect a bit of grassy hop scent. Tasting it, I could feel the subtle honey flavour on my tongue, but not too much. Overall, a decent, refreshing brew to have as the first one of the night.

Aroma: Only a mild hint of honey was noticeable.  Not strong at all.

Appearance: Looks good.  A nice light brown which holds a decent head.

Taste: Anothe subtle beer.  Starting with a mild honey with hints of malt which fades to a malty middle and slightly honey/malt finish.  Flavours are quite subtle and reasonably complex, but you have to pay attention to the taste or it's easily missed.

This beer is nice for a change but it's delicate flavour makes it another one to drink on it's own rather than mix with food.

You can really taste the honey, not to bitter either. A nice sweet beer. - It can be obtained off tap by the way. Im of the opinion that its strangely better out of a bottle.

Pretty Nice. An appealing aroma to start, not dominating yet with enough substance to impress. Quite smooth right throughout, somewhat sweet in some aspects but not overly so. I love the direction the brewers have taken with this kind of beer, with a pretty good result in this one. Real Aussie beers are harsher, with that solid bite and kick we are used to – without that this kind of beer always seems a little strange. But we are in a new era of brewing these days, and of the vast range of “new school” types about, this one can stand proud amongst them as one well worth considering every now and then. 1 point off for production in only a 345mL size bottle (instead of the good 375mL), the stubby and labelling appears fairly good other than that. I’ll be drinking more of this in future.

Unlike Nathan, I have never tried it on tap, so I can only go by the experience of the bottled version. At first I was a bit wary about "honey beer", as I just can't picture a beer with taste of honey in it...... After downing one, my fears was swapped away, as I can only barely detect traces of honey in it (mainly in the after taste), I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not though, since this beer is, afterall, marketed as honey beer...... aroma is probably on the light side too overall, not a particularly memorable beer, didn't hate it, but I'm also in no rush to buy another case either.

Having just recently drunk this on tap before having it from the bottle I have to say what a let down the bottle is in comparison. From the tap I had a strong noticeble honey aroma and flavour which complemented the wheat really well. Then comes the bottle; Nearly no aroma, practically no honey flavours and the colour of the beer was darked and the body was a lot thinner. Normally I really enjoy drinking this on tap, but I won't be re-drinking it from the bottle anytime soon, this was a real let down in comparison.
