Every beer from Macs brewery contains the words 'Naturally Brewed' on the bottle. Its an article of faith that Macs creates its beer without any artificial tinkering.

Armed with water, yeast, malt and hops that came together to make it.

Macs stands tall against a world of cosmetically-enhanced lip-synching. If Macs were a band, the drummer would not have headphones on. Live wild and Free, go natural with Macs.

Despite a useless 'blurb' on the bottle which talks nothing about the beer I purchased Macs Gold to sample yet another Macs offering. Gold pours well, with little aroma and has a nice thin yet long lasting head.

The aroma itself whilst faint is very distinctive of a well brewed Lager and you get little hints from the yeast and malt as you smell it.

The flavour is quite smooth and easy to drink - in fact it would make a great session beer. There are no big flavours that over-power anything else and the body is nice and full leaving you refreshed after each mouthful.

Upfront there are some dry, crisp bitter characteristics that are rounded off by a smooth yet sweet malt finish with a little kicker from the yeast. Just a tad too sweet for my liking, but this is only a personal preference and may be enjoyed by the next person.

Macs Gold is a wonderful example of an easy to drink session Lager, and definately should be tasted if you are looking to expand your palate.
Unfortunately due to the simplistic nature and lack of depth, the result is a forgetable beer that does nothing to stand out from the ever growing list of 'session' Lagers..
