Common Beer Terms

Carbonation:
The effervescence in the beer. Carbonation is a byproduct of the yeast 'eating' the fermentable sugars, which results in the release of carbon dioxide (CO2). If this occurs in a closed vessel, for example a bottle, the carbon dioxide is dissolved into the solution resulting in bubbles.

Very nice. Another beer I cannot recall previous opinions of, this is the standard “Carlsberg green” stubby. Gasses up nicely once opened. A nice, strong, distinct aroma straight away – and so “Carlsberg”. A pretty smooth taste right throughout, with a splash of bitterness and bite here and there that really adds to it nicely. The aftertaste even hints at some subtle sweetness, in a positive way. Another stubby produced in the wussy 330mL size (point off for that alone), other than that and the price there is not too much wrong with this beer. I have always considered Elephant Beer as “the” Carlsberg beer (and a fine beer that is), and this standard “green” sits proudly in its shadow. I will be drinking more of this in future.
