Grolsch is an international premium beer of Dutch origin. Grolsch Premium Lager is brewed using no other ingredients than malted barley, hops and water. With an alcohol content of 5% by volume, Grolsch Premium Lager tastes best when served at a temperature of 6-8 C (43-46F). People enjoy Grolsch because of its quality and distinctive taste. The Grolsch swingtop bottle is a symbol of mastery and craftsmanship around the world, a contemporary classic. The origins of the swingtop can be traced right back to the year 1897. There have been no changes to the classic bottle since, but in 1966 the bottle was streamlined to become more modern without losing its key characteristics. State of the art machinery can now clean and fill the bottles, a job traditionally done by hand! The swingtop is available in 47.3cl, 50cl and in giant 1.5 litres bottles.

Ahh, the classic healthy-size swing-top Grolsch. With an absolute legendary unique bottle that simply must be recycled in some form, this product has earnt cult status is beer-lovers around the world. I have seen the popular 473mL swing-top bottle recycled for homebrews, for sauce storage, for water serving at restaurants, for other condiments, and simply as an addition to a bar for the appealing look of the bottle alone. The beer has a somewhat subtle yet appealing aroma, which holds true for much of the taste as well. Seemingly brewed purposefully to not have an overpowering or overly strong taste in most aspects, it still seems basically well-balanced and pleasantly crisp in some ways. A little too plain for my real liking, but quite nice and certainly easy to drink regardless. I didn’t realize it comes in 500mL and 1.5litre swing-top bottle size as well – now there’s a challenge (to obtain at least one of each for the collection). A fine choice for special occasions.
