Dry Hopping:
Dry Hopping is the addition of dry hops during the first or secondary fermentation which will add a different hop flavour profile compared with using hops in the boil. Dry hopping does not affect bitterness only flavour as it is the process of boiling that releases the bitterness from hops.

Gage Roads IPA is a classic hop driven pale ale brewed with 5 Australian specialty malts and dry hopped with 5 natural hop varieties. It shows notes of dark stone-fruit and citrus within a complex floral aroma. A rewarding ale, it finishes long and dry with a lingering complexity.

| I'd only ever had one IPA before (James Squire) so I thought I'd give this one a crack, as it sounded interesting. A beautiful bronze color, beautiful head that went away and laced the glass after a few minutes. The taste was a delicous hop taste, nice and smooth, with a long dry aftertaste. I'd have to try more IPA's to give this one a fair go against beers of a similar style, but for something slightly different and easy to drink, definetly give this one a crack! | ||||

What a beautiful beer! With the description given, I was expecting a hop-bomb, but what I got was a good, smooth, hoppy, but well-balanced brew! The aroma was hoppy, but not strong, and the pour into the glass made about a cm of head that tapered back into a thin lattice after a few minutes. The colour was a deep bronze that was clear, and the taste was hop-bitter, but not overwhelming. A VERY GOOD drinking experience. If you like a beer with substance and like the IPA style, then this is a worthy try! |
