I think that Sheaf is a damn fine drop with all the standard "roasted/chocolate/burnt caramel" descriptors applying. It's not as bitter as others (Coopers, Guinness, Southwark) but I think that this adds to its drinkability, and its versatility in food matching. It's excellent with red meat and lamb roasts. It's not a freshly poured pint of Murphy's at a pub in Cork, but it'll do nicely.

| The classic sheaf stout that has been around for ages is an honest, genuine beer that is a consistent stout every time you have it. Nothing over the top, and nothing special for mine, but then again doesn’t claim to be. As far as stout goes I’d prefer others myself, that give a bit more depth, flavour and variation throughout. Doubt I would drink much of this ever. | ||||
