Quite impressive. A very nice aroma to start – strong yet not overpowering, and with solid hints of a classic dark ale smell. Initial taste is pretty smooth and quite appealing. The taste develops into a nice solid black beer taste, which really came pretty close in some aspects to the classic Tooheys Old – moreso than I expected. The latter stages and aftertaste do fall a bit short of those in a truly great beer for mine, but is still OK. Marketed in the good-seize 375mL but average-looking glass stubby with very nice-looking labelling. A fine effort from CUB and I will be keen to try this on tap, especially at a place where Tooheys Old is on tap as well, to compare the two.
