Common Beer Terms
Bulk Priming:
A technique used to prime your fermented beer in a single batch rather then individually as you would when bottling. Most people combine a mixture of water and sugar in a second vessel and rack the fermented beer on top of the sugar mixture. They would then bottle from the mixture without adding any sugar to the bottles as it has already mixed with the 'bulk' amount. A hit and miss technique, with as many failures as successful uses. Can also be used in kegging if your gas has run out.

Bluetongue Vintage Ale is a celebration of the art of brewing. It is a traditional strong ale made using pure Hunter water, four distinct malts, three hop additions, and traditional ale yeast.
It is bottle conditioned and has had extensive cellaring. This provides a beer that has both character and complexity, but is also smooth and satisfying.

| A 660ml bottle forces you to believe this is something special versus the usual suspects in the fridge. Its clearly a 'desired' brew right down to the 'wax seal' on the crown top of the bottle. It is described as a traditional strong ale and Bluetongue are very close to the mark. A strong malty aroma floats from a creamy head with hints of hops too. The flavour is a very full flavoured Ale. It hits you with a strong forceful flavour that leaves a malty & hoppy aftertaste. The complex combination of the malts and hops used create a wonderful flavour that is the leader of the Bluetongue offerings. If you are looking for a well rounded strong ale I suggest you try this. It is possibly the finest offering the Hunter Valley has produced to date. | ||||
