This beer has to beer tasted straigt from the tap to appreciate how good it is.

After spending over 5 years in Malaysia and Singapore (1970s)this was the best beer available on tap. It was far superior to Anchor and Goldie.

If you had to drink from the bottle then Anchor was the best.

I still will drink this over a lot of other imports.

This was the first time I've been able to try this beer and I've heard some very good reviews for it, so I was keen to get stuck into it.

When I poured it, I had very high expectations. These expectations where bought on by the wonderful fluffy head that was sitting proudly atop a pale straw lively beer with perfectly formed tiny bubbles. Things could not have looked better for a pale lager on a relatively warm evening.

Fast forward about 45 seconds later and I was left with a flat looking, no head beer. I was astonished that what started so well, has dissipated into nothing, well something resembling uncarbonated beer - close enough to nothing.

Aroma wise, just a typical Asian styled American Lager. Think of Asahi, Singha etc.. and you've got the typical light malt characteristic with no real depth. There is a minor hop resinous bite, but only just. Unfortunately, just as the appearance died quickly so did the aroma to leave a barely/cereal/cardboard aroma.

Flavourwise there certainly is nothing distinctive. Not that this is a bad thing, but there isn't enough for me to buy this over any other Asian produced beer. Actually, I prefer Tsingtao or Asahi if I had to choose an Asian beer.

The negative feature of this beer is the flat, lifeless mouthfeel it has. It is exceptionally watery with a lacklustre bitterness attempting to bring it all together.

Its definately drinkable, and would make a great session beer. It just lacks enough character for me to choose it over the other options in the bottle shop.

Over-rated. Has quite a following in certain international circles, and claims to be pretty darn good, but falls short of that claim. Still not bad, with an honest appealing aroma right from the start that does hint at the contents being a “genuine” beer. Pretty smooth right throughout also, but without much kick or bite to give it that depth and varied experience that real good bears succeed at. Made in a smaller (than 375mL) 330mL size stubby – a point off for that alone, and this also contributes to an over-priced tag. Not a bad option if there’s not much else on offer or it’s very cheap.
