The Best Blond ever. Fantastic colour and taste. Hope they never stop importing this great beer.

The first time that I tried this beer was at a local bottle shop who were doing an in-house tasting. I enjoyed it so much that I bought a four pack instantly - I enjoyed it that much I bought a mixed case of all the La Trappe beers they had in stock and you can read those reviews on the site too.

The aroma from the Blond is quite strong and the esters come through as the prominent characteristic, they remind me of banana and either peaches or pears I can't quite tell.

It pours a darkish yellow colour, almost amber and has a thin yet long lasting head. This particular pouring was well carbonated, whereas my original bottle-shop tasting it was slightly on the over-bubbly side. So Im assuming the correct storage and serving temperatures played a part in this.

The flavour is fruit, with both an up-front and aftertaste light bitterness with malty hints. It is reasonably full-bodied and the flavour is complex and may not be enjoyed by many. When I first tasted this there were three die hard macro-beer drinkers beside me (I wont name their beer of choice) who all enjoyed this but scoffed at the price tag.

This is my favourite out of the La Trappes I have tried due to the fruity complexity that the flavour brings and the sweet light bitter aftertaste but like the testers above the price tag can be prohibitive of session drinking. Savour this one, as it is likely you wont buy it that often.
